Reflection of infinity
|
|
| " I see a reflection of
infinity in reality. I try to supplement all day things with timeless,
universal knowledge in my paintings." Ger Stallenberg (1957) makes
oil paintings and drawings, which awe the viewer by their realistic
shapes, but at the same time he provides food for thought. Stallenberg
studied arts at the academy in Tilburg. |
|
| Fascinated by all day things |
|
| Stallenberg can be completely
absorbed by something everyday and simple as some wrapped paper, in
which one can see the rough folds together with the sudden
wrinkles. The works of light and shadow display a complete rainbow of
colours, sometimes one can even distinguish the colour reflections of
nearby objects. For Stallenberg this is the most ultimate to paint. In
his landscapes, portraits and still lives he always paints a precise
dance of colour, light and reflection.

 |
| A deeper mystery |
|
| Stallenberg refers to a
deeper mystery in his work, something that rises above the concrete
shape and the expression of materials. Something more is
happening. Longer viewing of his work reveals an abstract world of
separate paint strikes. Contours and shapes dissolve to make way for an
endless leave of light and colour. This is Stallenbergs goal: visible
reality as a reflection of infinity. |
